  • Auto Glass Exempt from Newly Enacted Rhode Island OEM Law

    Auto glass will be exempt from a newly enacted Rhode Island law that would prohibit insurers from denying the use of OEM parts for vehicles that are between 4 and 6 years old. The glass exemption is already part of an existing Rhode Island law that was slightly amended to allow car owners to use OEM parts for the repair of their vehicles that are 4-6 years old.

    The legislation, SB 2440, passed the Rhode Island Senate on May 7, the House on June 13, and became law without the Governor’s signature on June 28.  For text of the bill CLICK HERE.

  • Nissan Recommends OEM Glass, Says Some Mirrors Cannot Be Reused

    Nissan says OEM glass should be used for windshield replacements and points to the relationship between glass and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as a reason. Company officials also say some mirrors cannot be reused and address ADAS recalibration, among other topics, in a bevy of position statements released this month.
