Legislation prohibiting tinted auto glass on windshields and windows was introduced in the Illinois House of Representatives on January 7 by Rep. Maurice West. The bill contains an exception for drivers who suffer from light sensitivity as a result of traumatic brain injury.

The Illinois Senate recently passed a bill that “provides that no vehicle repair facility or installer may use repair specifications or procedures that are not in compliance with the original equipment manufacturer for those parts.”
The bill, S 2104, notes, however, that it does not apply to “glass repair, replacement, and associated advanced driver assistance system calibration covered by the Automotive Repair Act.”
The bill was introduced on February 15 and passed the Senate on April 12. It is now in the House under the review of the Rules Committee.

A bill has been introduced in Illinois that “provides that no person shall drive or move any motor vehicle or equipment upon any highway with any lighting or combination of lighting with a smoked or tinted lens or cover.”
The bill, S 87, was introduced on January 23 and referred to the Transportation Committee.
