Arizona legislation that requires auto glass services companies to take certain actions regarding calibration on ADAS equipped vehicles, at the risk of a $2,500 fine, has passed the legislature and is awaiting action by the Governor. The Arizona House passed the bill, SB 1410, by a vote of 41-11 on April 7. The Senate had previously passed the bill after approving substantial amendments. One of the amendments approved by the Senate and now in the final version increased the civil penalty for a violation of the bill’s provisions from $500 to $2,500. The bill requires auto glass services companies to inform customers about the need for calibration and provide an itemized description of the work to be done. It requires that the recalibration meet or exceed manufacturer’s specifications and prohibits glass companies from representing that the cost will be entirely paid for by the insurer unless it is fully covered by the customer’s insurance.
