AGSC members Omega EDI and DuPont have teamed up to help shops perform a critical step in complying with the Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standard (AGRSS) efficiently.
The Salt Lake City-based point-of-sale (POS) and software company and the adhesives manufacturer have collaborated to feature a QR code on the outside of all DuPont BETASEAL™ Xpress30 sausage and BETASEAL™ Express+ sausage package types. Technicians can scan this code when they open a new package to record its batch number and expiration date. Keeping a record of both is required for compliance with the AGRSS standard.
“This partnership simplifies safety protocols and enhances our ability to protect both customers and businesses,” says Josh Schwermer, CEO and chief technical officer of Omega EDI. “Our goal is to make it easier for technicians to maintain high standards by integrating essential data tracking seamlessly within our platform.”
The Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC) created and maintains the AGRSS Standard. AGSC Registered Member Companies, such as Glass America, are required to comply with the standard. Glass America is also a customer of both Omega EDI and DuPont.
“The strategic technology alliance between Omega EDI and DuPont represents a winning combination for Glass America,” says company president John Wysseier. “The ability to consistently track batch numbers and expiration dates in a more efficient and effective manner further strengthens our company’s unwavering commitment to ensuring proper safety procedures.”
“Our auto glass technical professionals are now able to log this information quickly and accurately, supporting our commitment of ANSI/AGRSS standards,” he adds.
Jeff Olive is AGSC’s director of safety and training. His position involves auditing every new Registered Member shop to verify AGRSS compliance.
“This type of technology would actually help reduce liability for a lot of the glass companies in the case of an issue where a vehicle got into an accident and the bonding didn’t hold properly, you’ve got the proper procedures and product information documented,” he says.
Olive says correctly documenting the adhesive lot number and expiration date are some of the common items he coaches shops on during his audits. Using the Omega EDI and DuPont QR code system would help shops make sure they were thoroughly and properly documenting the information every time. Taking advantage of POS software tools like this one is one way to help improve safety, Olive says.
